Fire Pit
Yeah, it’s just a fire pit, but, this has a little historical touch. The cobble stones that surround the exterior came from the streets of Boston and have a single smooth worn side. This is another unfinished project as I never mortared the fire bricks in or added the top slabs of blue stone.
Some pics below don’t show everything, so here’s my steps
figure out your size and dig, I went 2 courses below grade (~12”)
tamper ground down prior to laying anything
1st course, lay stones around perimeter while adding mortar between
2nd - 5th course, add mortar to bed and sides of bricks, while alternating the joints from the prior course
add crushed stone to base
stack the firebricks while adding high heat mortar between (I didn’t do this yet)
